Laser Hair Removal In The Villages, Florida

ReInventme offers laser hair removal for our patients in The Villages and Central Florida area.

What is Laser Hair Removal?

Laser hair removal is a medical procedure that uses a concentrated beam of light (laser) to remove unwanted hair. During laser hair removal a laser emits a light that is absorbed by the pigment (melanin) in the hair. The light energy is converted to heat, which damages the tub shaped sacs within the skin (hair follicles) that produce hairs. This damage inhibits or delays future hair growth.

Who is an Ideal Candidate for Laser Hair Removal?

The ideal patient for Laser Hair Removal is someone who wants to remove body hair for longer periods of time than traditional shaving or waxing allows. Many women will do this for leg or armpit hair and men typically seek this treatment for chest or back hair.

What are the Benefits of Laser Hair Removal?

In order to be most effective, pain free laser hair removal will require anywhere from two to six treatments. If your hair grows particularly quickly in certain areas, the treatment may need to be repeated every four to eight weeks. For other, slower areas, it may be twelve to sixteen weeks between treatments.

You will be given special goggles to keep your eyes protected from the laser beam and you may be given a topical anesthetic to help with any discomfort that you may feel as a result of the laser.

After the procedure is over, you may feel redness and swelling for the first couple of hours. This should subside and can be helped with the use of ice. If you have an allergic reaction immediately after the procedure, your doctor may use a steroid cream to help it.
